The Department of Mechanical Engineering has won many laurels as far as its developmental activities are concerned. This department has been taking the concerted   efforts to modernize the laboratory by procuring the sophisticated equipment in line with the latest technological advancements. It offers 4 year B.E. degree programme following the syllabus and course structure of the Anna University ,Tirunelveli.

The department of Mechanical  Engineering  was established in the year 1995 with the approval of AICTE.The approved intake in the year of inception was 60 students. Later this course was affiliated to Anna University in 2002. After getting affiliated, the strength increased to 90 in 2004 and 120 in 2006 respectively.

The department of Mechanical Engineering has also been accredited with NBA, New Delhi and offers a P.G programme M.E CAD/CAM. It has well qualified and experienced faculty members, technical support staff, and spacious class rooms and full fledged modern laboratories to impart qualitative technical education in the realm of Mechanical Engineering. This department has also been given the status of Research centre by Anna University Tirunelveli
