Department of Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering Department was established in the year 2007 offering B.E. Civil Engineering program. The Department is headed by Dr.R.Kumutha who has more than 11 years of teaching & research experience. The Department has qualified faculty with varied experience in areas of Structural Engineering, Irrigation Water Management, Soil Mechanics, Geology, Remote Sensing etc.

Civil Engineering Department is in the second year. At present, the students’ strength of the department is 126. We have well equipped Strength of Materials lab, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery lab, Soil Mechanics & Highway Engineering lab, Survey lab, CAD Lab and Concrete lab.

Our mission . . . motivate the students to excel in various fields of Civil Engineering and to produce leading practicing engineers and entrepreneurs.

  Quality Objective    
 
 

To achieve 50% Overall pass percentage in the academic year 2008 – 2009.

 

To arrange at least one Industrial Visit and one guest Lecture for  students.

 

To organize at least one National Conference for the benefit of students and Faculty

  To motivate the students to present papers  in National level technical symposium.
  To motivate the Faculty members to attend at least two Short term courses / workshops / training programmes in a year.
  To motivate the Faculty members to present a minimum of two papers in National and International conferences.
  To motivate the Faculty members to publish  at least  two papers  in National /  International Journals .
  To submit at least two proposals to various research funding agencies.
   
       
  Short Range Goals    
  To establish Environmental engineering and Soil & Highway engineering laboratories.
  establish a good department library.
  To Upgrade the Qualification of the Faculty and Staff members.
Long Range Goals
  To Commence PG Course in Structural Engineering.
  To receive research grants from various funding agencies for  R&D Projects.
  To receive research grants from various funding agencies for  organizing Workshops/Conferences/Seminars.
  To sign MOU’s with leading industries to promote Industry-Institute Interaction.
